As of the census of 2000, there were 1,461 people, 532 households, and 403 families residing in the town. The population density was 504.1 people per square mile (194.5/km2). There were 592 housing units at an average density of 204.3 per square mile (78.8/km2). The racial makeup of the town was 96.58% White, 0.14% African American, 0.48% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 1.57% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races.
