    As of the 2010 census, Duncanville had a population of 38,524. The racial and ethnic makeup of the population was 32.3% non-Hispanic White, 29.4% non-Hispanic Black, 0.7% Native American, 1.7% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.1% non-Hispanic from some other race, 2.5% reporting two or more races, and 35.0% Hispanic or Latino of any race.As of the census of 2000, 36,083 people, 12,899 households, and 10,239 families were residing in the city. The population density was 3,196.6 people per square mile (1,233.9/km2). The 13,290 housing units averaged 1,177.4 per square mile (454.5/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 63.90% White, 24.76% African American, 0.32% Native American, 1.99% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 6.83% from other races, and 2.11% from two or more races. Hispanics or Latinos of any race were 15.30% of the population.Of the 12,896 households, 38.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.3% were married couples living together, 16.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 20.6% were not families. About 17.6% of all households were made up of individuals, and 5.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.79, and the average family size was 3.15.In the city, the age distribution was 28.1% under 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who were 65 or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 90.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.0 males.The median income for a household in the city was $51,654, and for a family was $57,064. Males had a median income of $39,199 versus $30,145 for females. The per capita income for the city was $22,924. The Average Household Income for the city in 2008 is $82,500. About 3.9% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.2% of those under age 18 and 3.6% of those age 65 or over.
